 The NECi Nitrate Reductase Nitrate Analysis Method is in the process of being "certified" by US Geological Survey (USGS) and other agencies.

Proposals for "Certification"

1. A proposal to "Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater" (http://www.standardmethods.org/) for a new nitrate analysis method has been submitted by NECi and its status is pending.

   NECi "Standard Methods" Proposal:

   • New method for Method 4500-NO₃^- NITROGEN (NITRATE)

   •  Proposed title: Enzymatic Reduction Method

   A 2nd "Standard Methods" Proposal has been submitted for:

   • New method for Method 4500-NO₃^- NITROGEN (NITRATE)

   •  Proposed title:  Automated Enzymatic Reduction Air-segmented Continuous Flow Analysis Method (PROPOSED)

   • Based on: Patton CJ, AE Fischer, WH Campbell & ER Campbell (2002) Corn leaf nitrate reductase: A nontoxic alternative to cadmium for photometric nitrate determinations in water samples by air-segmented continuous-flow analysis. 2. An application to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is in preparation.  In this case, the NECi NaR Nitrate Analysis Method will be proposed in the EPA Alternative Test Procedures (ATP) Program.

Nitrate Analysis Not Requiring "Certification"

Many types of samples do not require that the nitrate analysis method be "Certified". For all these types of samples, the NECi NaR Nitrate Analysis Method can be used.
