| EzNET® is an on-line system for nitrate removal using enzymes. The enzymes catalyze
reduction of nitrate to non-toxic nitrogen gas without the addition of any substances to
the water. The enzymes of EzNET® are:
These enzymes are immobilized on "beads" with an electron-carrying dye. In
this formulation, the reduction of nitrate to environmentally safe nitrogen gas is driven
by a low voltage direct current.

The EzNET® System consists of 2 reactors. Each reactor is loaded with enzyme
"catalytic beads" and situated between two electrodes. The electrodes provide
the direct current which is used by the enzymes to drive the reactions shown next to each
reactor.
NECi has completed an EPA Phase I and II SBIR R&D Project on EzNET™.
NECi Research and Development is continuing on EzNET™. The effort is focused
on making NaR less expensive which is a major barrier to development of a
practical EzNET™ system for homes and farms to remove nitrate at the
point-of-use.
