INTRODUCTION

NECi produces nitrate reductase (NaR) for use in revolutionary Nitrate Test Kits (NTK) for detection of  Nitrate in water, waste-water, or any water-based extract of soils, leaves, roots or any nitrate-containing source.  NECi also has R&D projects on an NaR-based Nitrate Biosensor for monitoring nitrate concentration in water, and the EzNET™ System based on NaR and two other enzymes for nitrate remediation from potable water at the point-of-use.

Through several years of research in the late 80s and early 90s, Dr. Wilbur H. Campbell, President of NECi and Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Michigan Technological University, devised a method for producing and extracting the enzyme nitrate reductase (NaR) using corn leaves. In 1993, Dr. Campbell with his wife Ellen R. Campbell founded The Nitrate Elimination Company, Inc. (NECi) to bring NaR to market  in products for Nitrate detection, Nitrate monitoring, and Nitrate remediation.

NECi NaR has been used for nitrate testing in biomedical research since 1995. And today NECi offers a complete line of NaR-based Nitrate Test Kits (NTK) for use in biomedical, plant science and environmental research, site assessment, education, and home and farm applications.
