Last Updated: April 30, 2001 Nitrate in the News 1992 to the Present The Nitrate in the News Section of the NECi Web brings to your attention, current and historical information on nitrate and nitrogen in the environment and the impact of nitrate pollution on human and animal health. News reports on nitrate, nitrite and nitrogen are summarized here. The brief reports on nitrate are from 1992 to the present with periodic updates. Older reports focus only on nitrate. More recent reports bring in information on nitrogen in the environment since it is closely linked to nitrate in the environment. Some summaries are grouped together when special topics are reviewed in several reports. A wide variety of newspapers, magazines and online sources are used for preparing these reports and every effort possible is made to give proper credit for the source and its author(s). Where possible links to internet sites with the original report are provided. Time constraints have made it impossible to keep the Nitrate in the News web page updated in the fashion of the past. Thus, a new format for Nitrate in the News will be used from April, 1999. The new format will be done by making this an "index" page with links to the detailed reports, including the original Nitrate in the News page with its long load time and detailed history of Nitrate Reports.
