New NECi Superior Stock Nitrate Reductase
(YNaR1; EC 1.7.1.2)

NECi now produces recombinant yeast NAD(P)H: nitrate reductase with improved properties.  YNaR1 is called "Superior Stock NaR" since it is more stable and more robust form of the enzyme (1).  Superior Stock NaR works well in automated analyzers as recently shown by Patton and coworkers at USGS (2).  For more information, see the detailed review of the biochemistry of NaR published by W. This is the highest specific activity NaR (ie. most highly purified) commercially available, anywhere in the world.  Superior Stock NaR is highly stable and can be shipped at room temperature. Since NECi YNaR1 uses NADH as electron donor, it is less expensive to use than NADPH-dependent fungal NaR forms.

NECi Nitrate Reductase

NECi also sells NADH: nitrate reductase (NaR) from corn leaves purified by monoclonal antibody-based immunoaffinity chromatography [1]. Corn NaR has a high specific activity (40 to 60 units/mg NaR; unit = µmol/min).  This enzyme form is now available only in limited quantities for researchers and others that require plant NaR and cannot use YNaR1 for their work.
